The Falcon

Falcon is the main antagonist of Stuart Little 2. He is voiced by James Woods in the second film and Pat Fraley in the animated series. He had Margalo steal valuable items for him, including Mrs. Little's ring. After a chase through New York to get Margalo and the ring back, Falcon was defeated when Stuart blinded him with his mother's ring and sent his plane crashing into him, making him fall into a trash can and presumably eaten by Monty.

Although it looked like Monty ate him, Falcon later returned in Stuart Little: The Animated Series as the main antagonist and he tried to get revenge on Stuart and his best friends in the episode "A Little Bit Country."

Story[]

Beginning[]

During his youth, Margalo is lost and alone after her parents died. Falcon found her in a box. He decided to keep her as his adoptive daughter.

Reunion[]

One day, when the Littles were all out, Margalo met with Falcon and when he asked for any "valuables" the family had, she told him that they only had a ring. He asked for anything else and she stated that they were a kind, loving family that had each other to care for, much to his disgust. Falcon grew suspicious of Margalo actually beginning to like the family as much as they liked her. She remarked that no one else invited her to live with them, to which Falcon reminded her that he found her as an orphan "plucked her out of the gutter" and "taught her a trade" and reminded her that she was there to do as he told her and get the valuables, not to make friends.

As much time Margalo spent with the family, she grew to like them and Stuart. Falcon notices this one night when he spies on her spending a movie night with Stuart and sees how close they've both become. Finally losing his patience, Falcon storms in on Margalo the next day and threatens her to fetch Mrs Little's ring or he'll kill Stuart. Margalo is forced to go through with this and she steals the ring and leaves later on in the evening. Stuart becomes concerned and worried about Margalo gone missing with only her pin left behind.

He suspects that the Falcon kidnapped her and sneaks out of the house with his cat, Snowbell, to go find her. They find out that Falcon's hide-out is at the disused observation deck of the Pishkin Building. Stuart arrives with a small bow and arrow as his defence weapon. He confronts Falcon and asks him where Margalo is, but then Margalo is remorseful behind him. Falcon tells Stuart that Margalo's been playing him like a harp and reveals Mother Little's ring. Margalo explained she didn't mean to hurt him. Falcon mocks Stuart saying that he really thought that they were really friends, but Margalo said that she actually was his friend.

Furious, Falcon picked up Stuart, took him outside the building and with a cruel smile, drops him attempting to let him fall to his death and restrained Margalo from trying to save him and imprisoned her in an empty paint can to provide her with an "attitude adjustment", and leaves. Fortunately, Stuart had landed on a garbage truck, but it took him to a garbage barge.

Snowbell, getting worried about Stuart, makes his way there and finds Margalo and releases her. But Falcon arrived and Snowbell hid in the paint can. Falcon arrived and spotted Snowbell and said that he didn't like "canned food" and was about to throw him over the top of the building when Margalo stopped him and stated that she was through with being a thief under his orders and abandoned him, taking the ring with her. Falcon gave chase, but before he could kill her, Stuart had escaped the barge using a now-fixed toy biplane of his that he had accidentally broken earlier and rescues Margalo and Falcon chases them through the city and then the sky. He attempts to crash the biplane by picking it up with his talons and ripping off the top, but Stuart managed to take control of the plane again and pulls up.

Stuart leaves Margalo to keep her safe from the danger and faces Falcon and reflects light from his mother's ring into Falcon's eyes, temporarily blinding him and allowing Stuart to parachute away. Falcon's vision clears too late as Stuart's biplane then rams into him and explodes into pieces, making him fall out of the sky and right into a trash can where Monty was looking for food in.

In the episode "A Little Bit Country", the Falcon returned and apparently did not get eaten by Monty after all. He has now made a trio of new crow henchmen and is out for exact revenge on Stuart and his friends. The Falcon chased Stuart, Snowbell, and Monty into Crenshaw's new farm. Soon, the Falcon corners both Snowbell and Monty and Monty warns the Falcon to back off since cats eat birds, only for the Falcon to scare them. Snowbell then corrects Monty, telling the Falcon what he meant to say was "cats meet birds", then introduces himself to the Falcon before begging him to let him live.

Before he can kill Snowbell and Monty, Stuart distracts the Falcon by taunting him with a shouting in a sing-song voice, "You'll never get me! You'll never get me!", and then by blowing a raspberry out at the Falcon. The Falcon was then defeated again by crashing into a cage, fell down, then Snowbell closed the door and locked it, trapping him. Snowbell then told the menacing bird that he had the right to remain silent. From then on, the Falcon was never seen or heard from again.

Personality[]

Falcon is a threatening and manipulative peregrine falcon who wants someone to get items, like Mrs. Little's ring. He’s smarter than Margalo and orders her to give him the ring or he’ll eat Stuart. If he gets the item, Falcon would let Margalo go in a false way.

He isn't an average canned food lover when he sees Snowbell trying to rescue Margalo. He hates being fooled if anyone dares to do so.

He also likes to harm cats despite that they eat birds like him.

Trivia[]

  • Due to him having a sharp tan nose with a black tip, fans identify Falcon as a peregrine falcon.
  • Falcon's voice actor James Woods is best known for being the voice of Hades from Disney's "Hercules".
  • His relationship to Margalo is likely very abusive, as he had planned to lock her in a paint can for days without food or water.
  • Given that the peregrine falcon can fly at between 50-60 MPH and dive near 200MPH[1], likely even the model plane couldn't have truly saved Stuart and Margalo from a full-fledged pursuit by Falcon.
  • It's possible that, not wanting Falcon to have another go at him, that Stuart had his uncle kill Falcon before selling the farm, though it's also possible that Stuart would have just let his uncle have animal control send Falcon somewhere else, and that he is still alive.
  • Falcon sometimes makes a hunting/attack cry that sounds like "EEEEEEEK". An actual peregrine falcon cry goes "kack-kack-kack-kack."[2]
  • Falcon certainly has a bad reputation, even among street cats (who are supposed to be a predator of birds like Falcon) like Monty. Based on his actions toward Stuart, Snowbell, and Margalo, and, later, Monty, he may have committed murder before.
  • While Falcon dropping Stuart from the tower, rather than eating him (something he'd threatened to do in fact, if Margalo didn't steal the ring for him) may have just been an editorial decision, that would allow Stuart the chance to survive, it's also possible, based on a comment that Monty made about falcons dropping prey from a great height and then drinking what's left of them through a straw, that Falcon may in fact prefer to kill enemies that go into his lair this way. And it's also possible that when he left Margalo, after locking her in the can, that he indeed planned to find the body of Stuart and eat him.
  • Since songbirds like Margalo are the natural prey of peregrine falcons, it is unknown what led Falcon to keep her and raise her, rather than eat her, when he first found her.
  • Falcon is larger than a real peregrine falcon. Even George remarks that Falcon is about his own size (though that's an exaggeration.).
  • The relationship between Falcon and Margalo bears a lot of similarities to that of Chameleon and Zhen in Kung Fu Panda 4, in that both villains take in the two protagonists, both females end up becoming thieves, both of them steal something from the main character (a ring in the case of Margalo from Stuart and the Staff of Wisdom in the case of Po) and both scammed the main character into getting their guard down so that they could take the item. And both Margalo and Zhen ultimately turn on their evil guardians and help bring about their defeats.
